Cosmic Crush will hold its second and final tryouts for this season on Sunday October 23, 2022 from 8 am to 10 am at the Averill Park Central School District's Algonquin Middle School  Main Gym located at 333 NY - 351, Averill Park, NY 12018. 

Tryouts are for girls between the ages of 13 to 18 (senior in high school). 

All athletes must register for tryouts on the Excelsior Empire Regional Volleyball Association website. The web address is www.xlvball.org. Once on the site, go to "Play Volleyball" then to "registration". One the Registration page, scroll down to the link for tryouts. A parent initiates an account after which the parent then adds the child. Follow the application for Tryouts. There is a fee that is paid during this registration. This registration is required and the child needs to bring proof of registration to the tryouts. We unfortunately  can not allow a player to tryout without this registration. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout time.

My name is Dan Fairchild, and I have been coaching at the high school level at Averill Park since 1987.  We have competed in the Patroon, Colonial, and now Suburban Councils.  I have over 300 wins for my career and we won the Colonial Council championship, and won a class A sectional title in the year 2000.  Before that I coached or played on several mens club teams from 1981 to about 1996.  I also assisted at Plattsburgh State's women's team from 1983-85.  I have coached as an assistant at the Empire State games open level as well.  I took about five years off from coaching to referee at the varsity level for both boys and girls.  I have coached for several club teams in the area including the original Golddiggers, Crush and CDVBC over the years.

My philosophy is fairly simple- we will agree as a team to every rule and cultural norm we create together.  I begin with two non-negotiable rules- 

1.  No ball hits the floor without a body hitting the floor, and 
2.  If you cannot make practice or will be late, please text or call me to let me know.

All players are required to have Scorekeeping and R2 certifications from Ireva/USA Volleyball. All players will need R2 this season. If your Scorekeeping has expired, you will need that clinic also. Register on Webpoint for an in person  or online clinic.
